ABOUT

Soulfood of North India is a project under the topic of Culture and Cuisine. The purpose of this project is to highlight the importance of North Indian Cuisine and embrace the qualities it has to offer. Aim is to show the connection of North Indian Cuisine with the soul and stomach through a set of illustrated accordion style zines.

CHAAT ZINE MOOD BOARD AND COLOR PALETTE

Chaat, in the category of North Indian cuisine is considered to be one of the most flavourful appetizer. The famous chaat of North India include Dahi bhalla, Nawabi tokri chaat, Golgappa, Papdi chaat, Aloo tikki chaat and Kachori chaat. Taking inspiration from the mood board, three types of chaat were illustrated and described which were decided by its popularity and emotional food quotient.

MAIN COURSE ZINE MOOD BOARD AND COLOR PALETTE

​North Indian cuisine has a huge variety of popular, mouth-watering and delectable meals. Rajma chawal, Butter Chicken, Chole Bhature, Aloo paratha with curd, Rogan Josh and Dal bati are considered to be people's favourite. Taking inspiration from the mood board, three types of main course meals were illustrated and described which were decided by its popularity and emotional food quotient.

DESSERT ZINE MOOD BOARD AND COLOR PALETTE

North India is the epitome of all things that spell food, desserts hold a special place in this cuisine. Gulab Jamun, Kaju Katli, Ras Malai, Moong dal Halwa and Jalebi are some irresistible desserts of North India. Taking inspiration from the moodboard three type of desserts were illustrated and described which were decided by its popularity and emotional food quotient.

FINAL DELIVERABLES

The final deliverables consists of a keepsake set of illustrated accordion style zines and informative cards. There are three zines in total that comprises of a chaat zine, a main course zine and a dessert zine. These handy set of zines can be used as a collectible and also as an addition to other print medias related to the topic eg, a recipe book on food of North India.
